Mosaic tiles are smaller pieces of tile (made from glass, stone, marble, porcelain, travertine, metal and pebble) that are combined together to create impressive flooring designs. With a wide variety of colours, patterns and shapes to choose from, mosaic tiles are one of our favourite ways to add colour to an outdoor area.

Timber Look Tiles

Timber, in any room, offers a stunning warm aesthetic. Paired with healthy plants and your rich green garden space – choosing timber tiles for a patio would be the pièce de résistance to your outdoor area. 

Offering the same beautiful aesthetic as timber floorboards, timber-look tiles offer a more affordable and durable option to outdoor flooring. 

Whilst it’s always nice to boast that you have real timber flooring in your outdoor space, they do come with a few drawbacks. Timber flooring can be more prone to scratches, dents and water damage and require regular maintenance to maintain colour and quality. To avoid these timely and costly occurrences, many choose timber-look tiles instead.

Stone look porcelain is a more durable option that will involve greater costs initially but will pay off in the long run. Ceramic tiles are more affordable however, they aren’t as strong. If your outdoor space lacks sufficient cover, you might want to consider choosing porcelain tiles due to their weather resistance.

Concrete-look tiles

Growing in popularity amongst interior designers and renovators, concrete-look tiles appear identical to polished concrete, offering a stunning canvas to your outdoor area styling.

On top of their appealing design, concrete-look tiles are low maintenance, long lasting and can withstand just about anything! Unlike a real concrete surface that can be damaged by harsh chemicals or acids, concrete-look tiles don’t require any special treatment. 

Many of the tile manufacturers are producing larger sized tiles in their populare ranges like 1200x600mm or 1200x1200mm making the choice between concrete and concrete look tile even easier.

Slip resistant tiles

Slip resistant tiles create a safer outdoor environment for the whole family. 

If your outdoor space is located beside a pool, garden or area that will experience contact with water, it’s a smart idea to install slip resistant tiles. Luckily, here at Ceramic Tile Supplies, we offer a wide selection of anti-slip tiles that vary from sizes; 100x100mm, 200x200mm, 200x1200mm, 300x300mm, 300x600mm, 600x600mm and other special order sizes. 

With each slip resistant tile, there’s an accompanying slip rating that has been determined through industry recognised tests. When you purchase your slip resistant tile, you might want to consider the rating for your space, as there is such a thing as too little or too much. However, slip resistant tile ratings are only mandatory for commercial spaces.

If you want to take it a step further 20mm thick tiles or (2cm) are available that can be laid just like pavers. These thick tiles can be extended to all areas around the yard including driveways, patios or pathways and comes in stone, concrete and even timber appearances but are made from strong, hard porcelain.
