Rectified VS. Non-Rectified Tiles 1

Rectified VS. Non-Rectified Tiles

By General, Commercial Tiles, Tile Installation, Trends

Decisions, decisions…

When choosing ceramic or porcelain tiles, one of the first decisions you’ll need to make is whether you prefer rectified or non-rectified tiles. If you’re unfamiliar with the meaning of “rectified” and “non-rectified” let us fill you in.

Rectified tiles have a perpendicular cut and polished edges. They are often cut down from larger tiles by the manufacturer, this allows the tile edges to fit symmetrically, tightly and cleanly together creating an aesthetic uniformity and means you won’t see any grout between the tiles. Grout lines are extremely fine around 3mm or less and often disappear when looking at the space. The floor will look like one large tiled space rather than seeing breaks between the tiles.

Non-rectified tiles, also known as molded tiles or pressed tiles are pressed into a standard sized mold and therefore reflect the curved edges of the mold once fired. Due to this, more grout is visible between the tiles, offering a more obvious break between each tile. This will mean the non-rectified tiles show more grout in their installation but can be useful when used on uneven surfaces as the curve disguises the movement underneath.

Rectified VS. Non-Rectified Tiles 2

Are rectified tiles better?

To put it simply, one option isn’t necessarily better than the other, it comes down to your personal preference. Whilst rectified tiles can look more modern with their clean refined and polished aesthetic, non-rectified tiles offer charm, creativity and difference. For example, concrete look tiles deliver an exceptional aesthetic with a thinner grout line whereas our range of subway tiles use the grout lines to create patterns, offering a classic charm to the room.

Browse our range of rectified and non-rectified tiles to find out which one you prefer.

Installing rectified tiles

When it comes to installing tiles, it’s always best to contact a professional tile installer. Rectified and non-rectified tiles require different installation processes therefore it’s important to ensure the installer is informed on the style you’re choosing and has the knowledge to achieve what you’re striving for. There’s nothing worse than investing in high quality tiles only for them to be neglected during the installation.

“Which tiles should we select?”

This will depend on your specific project. However, here are some questions you will want to consider:

Coverage – will you require just a floor tile or will wall tiles, splashbacks and skirting tiles also need to be selected? What size has been allowed for in what areas?

Location – what rooms are you seeking the tiles to cover? Will you need the living area, dining room, bedroom, bathrooms, laundry or even the entire house, including outdoor areas?

Tile Types – what is the allowed for price, this is usually a per m2 price indicated towards a particular size range of tiles? Along with this is the tile allowance rectified or non-rectified? Porcelain or ceramic? Read about Rectified Tiles here.

Pool tiles – are you building a pool and seeking pool tiles? Will you be needing the whole pool tiled or just the pool waterline tiles? Have mosaics or porcelains been allowed for and for what price per m2?

Outdoor/porch area – will you be building an outdoor area that will be in need of tiles? Do you want this to match the main floor? Is there enough sub structure to support standard tiles or will you need to allow for enough time to order in non-slip or 20mm thick tiles?

“What do I need to bring to tile selection?”

Try and narrow down what style you are looking for even just down to what colours you are working with before you come. If you need some inspiration see the latest 2022 trends here.

If you have access to any house plans we encourage you to bring them to your tile selection. This will allow us to have a better understanding of sizing and design requirements that are best interpreted through the housing plans. More information the better! 2022 Tile Trends To Keep An Eye On

By General, Architects & Builders, Commercial Tiles, Timber Look Tiles, Trends

With a new year comes new trends!

Here, we unpack the hottest and most innovative tile trends that will be leading interior design in 2022.

Across Western Australia, home renovations are booming with a dramatic increase seen in 2021 due to government incentives coupled with more time spent at home. When you’re spending more time at home, it makes sense you want to invest more into your living arrangements. In fact, if you’re reading this blog it’s quite likely you’re one of the many Australians looking to update their kitchen, bathroom, dining area… or all of the above! As CommSec revealed, renovation loans saw an impressive increase of 7.4% mid this year, the biggest increase seen in 19 years. Now this is an increase we would like to be a part of!

When you’re designing your home, it’s important to keep a close eye out on tile trends. Unlike most trends that come and go as quick as it takes to get the materials delivered, tile trends are everlasting. You truly can’t go wrong with any style of tiles in your home. When you choose high quality tiles that are professionally installed, tiles add sophistication and class to any room.

We’ve collaborated with our design team to collect data on the tile trends that are going to take the forefront in 2022. Have a read, and pick out your favourites.

Farmhouse… with a twist

Imagine this – timber floors, white marble features, big open windows and apple pie fresh out of the oven. Farm house aesthetics continue to improve and impress with each year,  delivering a wholesomeness that touches on nostalgia and homeliness. Scandinavian design has had great influence on farmhouse interiors, holding onto these sentimental components of traditional farmhouse whilst adding a contemporary twist with white marble, subtle splashes of colour and nuanced centrepieces.

Choosing tiles to achieve a Scandinavian farmhouse appearance is an exciting and stunning process. Ceramic Tile Supplies would recommend Rhombus White Gloss for a contemporary farmhouse bathroom, Gloss Grey for your kitchen splashback or our gorgeous Two Tone Solid Mint Glossy for a subtle splash of colour that is guaranteed to turn heads.

Complete the look with plenty of green plants, timber furniture pieces and brown and grey fabrics (towels, pillows, blankets).

Industrial modernity

Funky, rule breaking and texturised – although industrial design nods to vintage warehouses, modern industrial interiors embody style, opulence and confidence. Think: distressed wood and  brick features contrasted with luxe ceramic or marble tiles. Entering a modern industrial space instantly impresses with its capturing features.

To accomplish the refined elegance industrial design provokes, it’s crucial to balance those old and edgy elements with new and refined materials. You want to take advantage of raw materials, choosing an open brick wall feature, a cowhide rug and aged steel lighting paired with the best floor and wall tiles to compliment.

Choosing your tiles, we would encourage you to experiment with shades. Our Melt Oxide or Shade D Impressions perfectly tie together an industrial space with an exciting difference. Alternatively, choose our Homestone Charcoal or Homestone Ivory to add a minimalist concrete feel to your kitchen, bathroom and home.

Complete your industrial spaces with rustic pipe shelving, warm coloured blankets and towels and vintage pickups from your local antique store.

2022 Tile Trends To Keep An Eye On 19
Coastal aesthetic

Coastal retreat

In Australia, we love our beaches. Even if you don’t enjoy swimming, there’s something about the warm sand and spending time at the beach that calms and excites! It’s no surprise then that beachy coastal aesthetics are making major waves in Perth homes.

Coastal retreat aesthetics often incorporate cane, wicker and rattan furniture and highlight colours of beige, sand, white and cream. Walking into the home, it feels fresh, light and simple yet, with personal touches that add an important element of warmth.

Tile trends for coastal retreats hold a crucial place in home design. This is most notable for kitchens, where the tile floors and the tile backsplash stand as pieces of artwork to the overall open plan. To maintain the light freshness felt throughout the house, white or beige styled tiles complete your coastal kitchen.

Floors tiles we would recommend are our Shoreline Bianco and Dekton Natural. These styles add sophistication with a touch of that laid back beachy vibe that is at the heart of all coastal home interiors.

For kitchen splashbacks, there’s a great selection of style options to choose from. Experiment with subway tiles with our Carra Honed Herringbone Mosaic or keep it classic with our White Mosaic. There’s the option for creativity here by tying in the colours of your home with the splash back. To maintain the coastal retreat look, you want to keep colour minimal and thoughtful.

Pair your tiles with rattan furniture, white marble kitchen bench and a brass sink and tap. Wow your guests with your coastal retreat interior.

Are your pool tiles safe? 27

Are your pool tiles safe?

By General, Architects & Builders, Slip Resistant Tiles, Swimming Pool Tiles

Are your pool tiles safe?

Perth’s Summer weather is here, which means lots of time spent outside, taking dips in the pool and afternoons lounging about on the outdoor tiles. Before the fun begins, it’s important to assess your swimming pool tiles, whether they be on your waterline, external to the pool or the entire shell of the swimming pool, and ensure they’re safe and ready for activities. If you have a pool it’s important to make sure the area is safe for all members of the family. Read further to learn about safe pool tiles and what to do if you need a repair.

Are your pool tiles safe? 28

Pool tile safety

Pool tiles not only make for an aesthetic centrepiece for your outdoor area, but they also provide an important protective base for your swimming enjoyment. When you’re playing Marco-Polo in the pool, you want to feel safe and easy moving around the pool rather than worried you’re going to be cut by a displaced pool tile.

Before the game of Marco-Polo begins, have a close look at your pool’s tiles to check whether there are any cracked or chipped tiles or any have fallen off completely. Depending on how the pool tiles were laid when you first put the tiles in, will greatly impact their longevity. If the pool tiles were installed by someone who’s not familiar with the correct laying process, there are lots of problems that can arise.

When considering the state of your pool tiles ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What surface were the pool tiles mounted on? If the substrate fails, cracks or deteriorates the pool tiles will inevitably fail, crack and deteriorate too.
  2. How were the pool tiles installed? Improper installation of the pool tiles will lead to breakage and deterioration. You want to make sure tiles are professionally installed.
  3. Can the water get behind the tiles? If the pool water can move behind the tiles, this is going to quickly see the tiles dropping off and slipping.
  4. What is the condition of the coping lip of the pool? This is the overhanging ‘lip’ that borders the edge of the pool. If your pool is made from concrete, this lip can fall and results in poor sealing or due to minimal expansion areas can put pressure on the pool tiles and cause them to fail.
  5. Have your coping stores delaminated? Delaminated coping stones around your pool will result in tile failure. The area around your pool is just as important as the pool tiles. You want a supportive base and board to hold your pool tiles.

Repairing loose tiles

If you’ve found any imperfections in your pool’s tiles you might want to consider repairs. We recommend reaching out to a professional who can help you with your pool tile damage. Although it can be tempting installing pool tiles yourself, there are many obstacles that only professionals are experienced with. For example, when pool tiles come off cleanly, many home handy persons are quick to apply new pool tiles to the previous substrate. However, the substrate (although might look perfectly fine) is an old layer that’s not suitable for tile application.

Here at Ceramic Tile Supplies Perth, we specialise in supplying tiles as well as connecting you with qualified and experienced tilers. If you’ve previously purchased pool tiles from us before you will know how thorough our services are. If you’re yet to work with our team here at Ceramic Tile Supplies Perth then we’re very happy to assist you with your current tile needs.

Preventing pool tile damage

The best way to prevent swimming pool tile damage is to have your pool tiles professionally installed from the beginning. Having high quality pool tiles installed by an experienced team, eliminates many issues that can arise in the future. Once the pool tiles have been installed incorrectly, it’s a challenge to revive the quality.

Not any tile can be used in a pool, swimming pool tiles can include glass natural stone, porcelain and low water absorption ceramic tiles. These tiles have the strength and durability to withstand pool water and general swimming activities.

Need to replace your pool tiles?

If you’ve discovered you need to replace your swimming pool tiles, not to worry, we’re here to help. Ceramic Tile Supplies Perth offers a wide range of pool tiles to choose from at affordable prices. We work closely with tilers and experienced workers to ensure our clients get the best service. We’re here to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible. Tile Trends: Subway Tiles

By General, Architects & Builders, Bathroom Tiles, DIY, Kitchen Tiles, Subway Tiles, Trends

If you’re currently renovating your Perth kitchen, redesigning your bathroom or, you’re simply a lover of interior design – you would have stumbled across subway tiles. Subway tiles are growing in popularity, and taking platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram by storm. Once you discover the sheer class and sophistication of subway tiles, you can understand why they’re becoming a must-have for every Perth home.

Tile Trends: Subway Tiles 39

What are subway tiles?

Subway tiles have obtained their name from the iconic walls of the New York subway system.

Although at first the idea of “subway tiles” might suggest negative connotations (stifling underground train station perhaps?), you best cast those thoughts aside as subway tiles embody a classic vintage aesthetic that is incomparable. Generally, subway tiles are rectangle ceramic tiles laid horizontally with a 50% offset. However, over time, subway tiles have been modernised and experimented with to offer a great variety of design options for homes.

Explore more about subway tiles below.

How to include subway tiles in your Perth home

Extremely versatile, subway tiles can be incorporated in your home in countless ways. Our favourite ways to add subway tiles to your home…

1, Kitchen splashback. A lot of time is spent in the kitchen – cooking, hosting and spending time with the family. You want to make sure your kitchen embodies just as much class and character as the rest of your home. Including subway tiles in your kitchen splashback makes for an eye-catching and impressive feature, making you feel confident hosting your next event.

2. Bathroom feature. The bathroom has been dubbed as one of the most important rooms of the house when it comes to design. It makes sense when you consider that every person that visits your home, is going to at one point or another, visit your bathroom. That’s why subway tiles are becoming an increasingly popular design feature for Perth home renovations.

Benefits of subway tiles

Subway tiles have a long list of benefits varying from their visually grabbing design to their easy installation.

  • Subway tiles are available in many shapes, sizes, textures and colours. With such a great variety, you can create a unique subway tile feature that fits your home aesthetic.
  • Stain-resistant and easy to clean, you can use a white vinegar cleaning treatment or even spray and wipe to clean your subway tiles. Due to their easy-to-clean design, this makes subway tiles even more of an excellent choice for kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Affordable addition to your home interior. If you’re currently acquiring quotes for your home renovations, you will know how easy it is to exceed your budget. Subway tiles are fantastic as they’re not only high quality but also affordable.
  • Timeless design that never goes out of fashion. When making aesthetic choices for your home renovations, you want to make design decisions that last a life-time. Considering how quickly fashion trends change, this can be very difficult. One of the great benefits of subway tiles is that they never go out of style and always offer a classic feature to your home.
  • Easy installation. Renowned for their stunning pattern, depending on the subway tile design you’re after they’re surprisingly easy to install. When it comes to installing ceramic tiles we always recommend hiring professional tilers. The last thing you want is your new tile design breaking or deteriorating due to poor workmanship. Invest in the installation and it will pay off in the long run.

5 tile trends to look out for in 2021 73

5 tile trends to look out for in 2021

By General, Architects & Builders, Trends

Planning to do some home renovations this year? To give you some inspiration for your next bathroom, kitchen or flooring project, let’s take a look at some of the top tile trends emerging.

As we head into 2021, timber look tiles continue to gain momentum, along with marble imitation tiles and stone look tiles that seamlessly incorporate natural hues.

5 tile trends to look out for in 2021 74
Timber look tiles

A far more affordable, maintenance free and durable solution to natural hardwood, timber look tiles keep evolving, making it ideal for virtually any interior space that needs a little extra warmth and elegance. Great for highlighting functional areas and creating accents in a room, the authentic look of wood tiles can’t be beaten and can be applied both indoors and outdoors.

Because of its waterproofing abilities, we’re especially seeing more timber tiles popping up in bathroom designs. Not confined to the floors, designers are playing with feature timber accents where timber could previously not be used.

Texture trends to look for in wood look tiles include wire brushed, hand scraped, white washed and distressed wood surfaces.

Natural stone look tiles

Stone look tiles are extremely popular in kitchens, bathrooms and even outdoors. Clean, elegant and convincingly real in appearance, tile manufacturers have mastered these looks to recreate tiles in marble, limestone, slate and travertine styles.

Marble look tiles in particular are being used extensively in flooring and in bathrooms. Less porous, more durable, accessible and affordable compared to the real thing, creating that luxe feeling in your home always associated with marble, is now easier than ever.

Square tiles as a feature

Square tiles are the new subway. They are great for splashbacks and feature walls and come in many sizes and colours. Often you will see a design with a smaller square mosaic as a bathroom feature wall or a traditional 200x200mm square non-rectified tile with a repeating pattern adding character to a small floor area.

Play with colour and patterns with the square tile. A square tile can be laid brick bond, on the 45 degree angle or in checker pattern. A handmade traditional tile can call for a Hamptons feel or farm house look where a solid block colour mosaic can give a mid-century or post-modern look to a design.

Floral patterns are a hit

And we’re not talking “grandma’s wallpaper” style approach. Big, bold and bright walls with elements of tropical plants or blossoming flowers, is setting an original and refreshing trend for bathrooms. To achieve the best look, you should only use this style to accentuate and decorate a certain area, not the entire space. Botanical print tiles are especially ideal for bathrooms without a window.

Metallic imitation

Another tile trend that’s emerging is the metal look tile. This style isn’t for everyone, it’s geared more towards achieving a high-tech, industrial, minimalistic urban feel, or depending on the choice of tile, a vintage retro interior.

Metallic look tiles come in all sorts of shades and effects including a rust effect, oxidized copper, platinum, white gold, steel, aluminium and silver. The use of such cladding creates a very unique design for walls and floors, even work surfaces and countertops. When decorating a room with this style of tile, it’s important to think about how the metallic look will blend with your décor, to ensure the interiors complement each other.

When selecting new tiles for your home, by all means consider the trends to achieve a well-designed room, but stick with your personal preference so that you don’t get bored of the look too quickly, and can enjoy your space for years to come.

Applying inkjet technology to tiles 84

Applying inkjet technology to tiles

By Architects & Builders, General

Today, tiles can be produced to mimic natural materials like wood, stone or cement, but have you ever wondered how they are made to look so authentic?

Just like high definition technology used on tv screens, digital inkjet technology has transformed ceramic and porcelain tiles to replicate the appearance of different materials, to a level unmatched by other printing techniques such as screen printing and roto colour processes.

This innovation has become a driving force for new tile manufacturing processes and product offerings.

Using advanced high definition technology, tiles can be digitally printed with high-resolution patterns and designs to imitate various textures like wood and concrete, and 3 dimensional materials like marble, granite and limestone.

This process creates tiles that are varied and have minimal repetition. So, rather than being limited to a few different patterns, you can metres of an inkjet printed tile without seeing the same pattern twice. The image result is almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

How are inkjet technology tiles produced?

Digital printing delivers a much crisper result and superior detail than other conventional tile methods. The process is similar to how you would use a digital printer at home or in the office, but on a much larger scale.

Controlled by a computer, the printer heads dispense specialty ink onto the canvas (tile surface) to precisely duplicate any high resolution image such as natural stone or wood. The canvas is actually the body of the tile, prior to going into the kilns to be fired.

The machine automatically adjusts to create beautiful designs on smooth, rough and even highly textured surfaces that is applied edge-to-edge to fully cover each tile.

Today, inkjet printers can utilise 8 or more colours, allowing for a greater range of shades and tones to be created on a tile. This innovation in tile production brings amazing detail, contrast and variations in design.

What kind of designs are possible with inkjet technology?

The design possibilities using inkjet technology are endless. Designers can combine images, overlay them and alter them to create hundreds of different visuals.

You can produce anything from concrete looking tiles, stone, marble, brick and even textiles.

Using inkjet technology, you can replicate any type of hardwood to create timber look tiles. And the detail is exceptional as the printer can produce knots and graining patterns that look like the real thing. You can also choose from a variety of plank sizes and styles.

Why should you choose inkjet technology tiles?

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are cost-effective, highly durable and require little maintenance. The same can be said for ceramic or porcelain tiles produced using inkjet technology.

This makes them the perfect choice for literally anywhere inside or outside your home, in high traffic areas and wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens. The tile design options that arise from inkjet technology, means you can have a wood-look bathroom or kitchen without worrying about moisture damaging the floor or wall surface.

Some of the other benefits in using inkjet tiles include:

  • Potential to imitate any image and surface to create the desired look you are after.
  • More affordable are harder than natural stones such as granite.
  • Inkjet technology improves tile production time and quality.
  • Layering of imagery gives the tile more depth and realism.

How to choose the right grout for your tile project 88

How to choose the right grout for your tile project

By DIY, General, Tile Selection

Any ceramic tile project will use some form of grout to fill the gaps between the tiles and to hold it all together. Grout choice is just as important as your tile choice, so it pays to know which grout will work best for your tiles and deliver the best result.

The two most common types of grout are cement grout and epoxy grout. Let’s compare the two to help you better understand your options when tiling your floors or walls.

How to choose the right grout for your tile project 89
What is cement based grout?

Cement based grout is the most common type of grout and the least expensive. It is made out of a mixture of cementitious powder, sand and water and comes in a sanded and un-sanded form.

Un-sanded grout tends to have a smooth texture. It is created from fine powders and is generally used to join tiles that have seams between 1-1.5mm wide. Sanded grout contains fairly large sand particles that can be seen, often with a gritty look and feel to it. The sand in this grout provides extra bonding that makes it harder to crack. Sanded grout is mostly used for seams 1.5mm or wider.

When using cement grout you should seal it after application to prevent staining. Cement grout is not recommended for porous tiles like natural stone, because this type of surface combined with the grout is likely to stain.

What are the pros and cons of cement based grout?

There are both advantages and disadvantages to choosing a cement based grout. Deciding whether to go for cement grout can come down to a few things such as:

Pros for choosing cement grout

  • Easy to install so it is great for a DIY job
  • Easy to clean – after installation, all you need is a wet cloth or, at worst, some light scrubbing to remove grout residue from your tiles.
  • It’s cheaper compared to epoxy grout
  • Wide choice of colours
  • Cement grout has a thicker consistency, so it can hold up well on any wall installation, even in the cases with wider gaps as it shrinks less and bonds well.
Cons for choosing cement grout

  • Needs to be sealed or a grout booster added to prevent staining, mildew and mould (refer to What is a great additive below)
  • Poor colour consistency – different factors such as the minerals in the water, how you mix the grout and humidity can affect the colour of the grout
  • Not waterproof – excessive exposure to water or moisture such as in bathrooms can cause damage to the grout, due to presence of porous features
  • Brittle – corners will crack and flake out over time or crumble if not installed properly

When should you use epoxy grout?

The stain and chemical resistant properties of epoxy grout make it suitable for high traffic areas such as schools, healthcare facilities, hospitality industry, commercial and industrial settings. \

They are also ideal for environments that experience excessive amounts of humidity or severe cold temperatures.

What is a grout additive?

A grout additive is a water based acrylic liquid added when mixing grout together to make the grout stronger, enhance the colour and make it flexible, which will eliminate cracks in your grout. Grout additive also reduces the porosity of the grout, making it easier to clean and minimising the growth of mould on the surface. We highly recommend adding a grout additive to cement based grout.

Be mindful when using grout additives in cement grout as it sets the grout off faster and there for is required to be cleaned as you go along. Do not leave it until after it has dried to clean off.

Why does grout crack?

Grout crack is common and happens mainly due to movement between two surfaces. You may not know this, but each material in your home is continually moving in tiny increments as a result of humidity, foundation settling, temperature and other factors. If grout in the kitchen or bathroom is a rigid material, it will crack. For example a tiled corner meeting another tiled corner can crack if there is movement in both of the walls due to the above mentioned factors. Or a join where a bathtub and tile meets has pressure applied to it where the bathtub is more flexible and the tile grout not so a crack will form between the two.

Choosing the right grout for your project makes all the difference to the final product. By talking to the professionals at Ceramic Tile Supplies, you’ll get the right advice on the products that will best fit your needs and budget.

Tile Trends to Keep an Eye Out for in 2020 91

Tile Trends to Keep an Eye Out for in 2020

By Bathroom Tiles, Architects & Builders, General, TrendsNo Comments

Are you decorating your bathroom for the first time or renovating an old, tired look? Either way, we understand the feeling. The new year is time for a new look.

Adding tiles to your bathroom or replacing old ones will keep it looking modern, fashionable, and fresh. To keep this private space looking new, we recommend keeping an eye out for tile trends coming in 2020. Tiles, like paint colours or clothing styles, go in and out of fashion, so you want to keep a finger on the pulse of trends for bathroom tiles.

Here are some trends to look out for in 2020 and tips for tiles Perth homeowners will love:

Decorating and Renovating

If you’re decorating or renovating your bathroom to look more fashionable, you will need to look out for a style that appeals to you but doesn’t sacrifice on quality or functionality.

Finding something that looks modern yet remains in style with the existing home is a challenge many buyers face. But with the right bathroom tiles, you can find something to satisfy your desires and practical needs.

When decorating, one helpful tip is that you can create a light and glamorous bathroom with pastel colours, glass tiles, or more organic looks.

The right bathroom tiles and the right placement also can help change the whole vibe of the room. This New Year, look out for tiles that will make your room look more spacious. Large, airy spaces are the new trend for 2020.

Vibrant and bold looks are also in, so decorate your walls and floors with strong styles whilst keeping them classy. Remember, practical can be pretty.

Style and Design

We have a whole range of tiles on offer, so look out for great designs that are set to be popular in 2020. The four style and design categories to consider are colour, texture, decor, and natural aesthetics.

1) Colour

You want to match your tiles to the colour of your bathroom, whether that is the current colour or a new shade that you’re planning on painting.

Light pastel colours will be popular in 2020. We have a range of pastels and mixed colours for you to peruse, including our Trend glass mosaic ranges and our Solid subway tile range.

Bi-colour tiles and contrasting colours are also promising to be popular as people move toward bold and quirky looks. You can accomplish this by pairing solid colours on the same wall in different patterns and textures.

2) Texture

Textured styles are on the rise. This can be done in two ways; the texture you feel or the visual patterned texture on the tiles. When it comes to feel it is fun to play with the use of smooth, glossy, lappato, satin, embossed or rough tiles. But keep in mind smooth tiles are easier to clean but the rougher tiles have a better grip which can be practical for a bathroom floor. For a visual textural look it is great to use a mix of a highly patterned tile (think floral look, natural stone look or concrete look) mixed with a basic non patterned tile. Check out our Alabastro, Carrara, and Busker series for a variety of textured styles.

This year, textures are important as part of the Bohemian look, which is quirky and artsy. Designers using a combination of textured walls and floor tiles with decorative feature elements.

3) Decorative

Decorative tiles with patterns and shapes on them are popular for 2020. A little bit of bohemian, a geometric shape and the mosaic look are all promising styles for the New Year.

We have a range of mosaics, from ceramic and glass to porcelain and stone. The Scales and Penny-Round series are especially popular and eye-catching.

For decorative styles, check out the Herringbone, Brick Crystla, and Ciment series. Whether you like geometric or floral designs, we have options for you.

4) Natural

The natural look is going to be a popular one in 2020. The top natural materials include stone, concrete, or timber-look. These come in greys, browns, and white tinges. The charm of these simple and effective tiles lies in their organic look.

For stone options, we have a wide selection, from the Chorus series to the Mystone and Scot.

Popular concrete options include the Busker line, Downtown, and Evoque lines.

The timber styles that render the best au naturel look are the Cherokee and Supergres series.

How To Create A Timeless Bathroom 92

How To Create A Timeless Bathroom

By Bathroom Tiles, DIY, General, Tile SelectionNo Comments

Without a doubt, one of the most functional rooms in the house is the bathroom. It’s always in use and frequently exposed to water, chemicals, heat, and humidity. This means your bathroom can suffer more wear and tear than any other room in your home.

This private space always seems to be one of the first rooms up for consideration for a makeover. It’s often re-modeled because of its importance in the home and since it’s used by every member of the family. If you’re looking to redecorate your bathroom and create a timeless space, you need to select a design that won’t go out of style anytime soon. You also want to give off a pleasant, fresh look.

Keeping an eye on the current trends is always something we enjoy to do. It’s easy to get carried away when decorating your home with recent interior design updates, but when it comes to the bathroom, creating a timeless classic will add style and longevity.

Here’s how you can do it.

Choose Terrific Tiles

Bathroom tiles in Perth are now trendier than ever. Ceramic tiles help create a unique elegance all the way from its size, shape, and colour. With such a large spectrum of tile designs available, homeowners will have no trouble finding a style that suits their liking. We always suggest shapes like hexagons and rectangle variations as they add intrigue to any bathroom.

Moreover, when compared to other tile materials, ceramic presents an affordable option without disrupting your style. These tiles are very durable which will keep your space current and increase the value of your home. Specialist bathroom tile companies in Perth, like Ceramic Tile Supplies, will help you achieve a timeless and organic feel within your home.

Keep Colours Plain and Traditional

Shades of white, cream, and grey go a long way. They give you more room to play with the colour of bathroom accessories. Decorating using a neutral tone will not only provide you with a more classical look, but these colours never go out of style and go well with just about any other colour!

Pick the Right Stone

The most popular and classical materials include stone, marble, and ceramics. These stones offer luxury and quality when used appropriately. One of our personal favorites is the ceramic stone as it is very hard wearing and easy to clean. Not to mention they offer infinite design opportunities.

A popular design in Perth is the Peronda Ground Silver. It’s safest for wet floors with its anti-slip texture. It creates a cool atmosphere in the bathroom and compliments other accessories.

Add Lighting

Lighting is always a matter of individual choice and style. This depends on your overall bathroom style and furnishing, but if you’re still looking for timelessness, adding extra lighting is a great idea.

After natural light, there is a wall and ceiling lighting. Wall fixed sconces and crisp white shades are delightful when contrasted with bathroom tiles. For the ceiling, a chandelier adds beautiful light and sparkles the room.

How To Create A Timeless Bathroom 94

Use a Classic Tub

The bathtub doesn’t need to be as flamboyant as you may think. The freestanding tub may be the most classic bathroom element that never goes out of style. Classical shapes are called so for a reason. They are much more practical and tend to match with more in the bathroom.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of taste, it’s important to think about the future of your bathroom. Will it look as fresh in five, ten or even twenty years? Homeowners don’t want to keep tweaking, especially with bathroom tiles. If you begin the design process with a clear head, your bathroom will remain timeless.
